Once you have decided home ownership is for you, the next step is to get pre-approved. This determines the size of the mortgage you qualify for, and therefore decides the price range for the homes you can look at.
Pre-approval helps you to:
- Know how much you can borrow
- Confirm your ability to qualify for a mortgage based on your credit, financial and employment information
- Strengthen your position to make an offer on a home. A seller will be more willing to accept an offer if you have been pre-approved
For a quick pre-approval, you will need to call or e-mail me so I can get some basic information to review your credit history, earnings information, employment history and assets. Once I have this information I will be able to give you an answer the same day. I will also be able to give you a pre-approval letter so you can start looking at homes with confidence.
Getting pre-approved is not the same thing as getting pre-qualified. Pre-approval simply states that you as a borrower have the ability to qualify for a mortgage. I will still have to conduct a complete review of your financial situation through documentation to be able to get you pre-qualified. We will do everything except the appraisal and title work when we pre-qualify you. Most realtors are comfortable with a pre-approval letter.
